Annabelle Rama

Getting sympathy from people after her plan to run as congresswoman was met by negative opinion> Annabelle had this for her press release.

MANILA, Philippines – Feisty talent manager Annabelle Rama admitted that she had tried to take her own life just to get rid of the pain of jealousy caused by her intense love for actor Eddie Gutierrez, who is now her husband.
“Minsan ako na lang ang naglason para matapos na rin. Uminom ako ng shampoo at saka (ano pa) kasi gusto mo nang tapusin at hindi mo na matiis, in love na in love ka,” she said in an interview on ABS-CBN morning talk show "Kris TV"  Friday.
Rama said she also thought of splashing muriatic acid on Gutierrez's face, still because of jealousy.
“Kasi nga parang niloloko ka na at ayaw mo siyang mapunta sa ibang girl. Parang gusto mo tapusin mo na lang. Parang ganoon ang nangyari noon,” she said.
Rama stressed, however, that she and Gutierrez are on good terms, adding that they have been married for over 10 years.

The talent manager said it was her eldest daughter, Ruffa, who encouraged Gutierrez to marry her mom.
"Sabi niya (Ruffa) bakit mga classmates ko laging parents nila kasama, ako hindi. So sabi ko sa kanya 'sabihin mo sa daddy mo na pakasalan ako.' Ginawa naman ni Ruffa. Pasalamat ako kay Ruffa kahit lagi kaming magkaaway niyan eh dahil sa kanya ay pinakasalan ako ng daddy niya," Rama said.

"Gusto po nilang makipag-communicate sa akin. Ibinigay po nila ‘yung email add nila," she said in an interview with GMA News.
She reiterated the same in a separate report on PEP, saying, “Actually po, nung isang araw pa po sila nag-message, nung Saturday ko lang po na-reply-an kasi marami po akong ginawa.”
Tenerefe recalled being "shocked" that they had communicated with her.
“Hindi ko po alam kung ano po ang isasagot ko. Parang hindi ako makapaniwala. Actually, nung nabasa ko ‘yung message nila, nagtatalon po ako sa tuwa. Tumakbo ako sa loob ng bahay namin sa sobrang tuwa,” she related.
If it pushes through, Tenerefe will only be the fourth Filipino to appear on the show after Charice Pempengco, Rhap Salazar and Luzviminda “Mindy” Casimiro, the Filipina housekeeper of show host, Ellen DeGeneres.

Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barreto are not human rights victims

The case filed by the couple Raymart and Claudine claiming their human rights were violated was junked by the court.
Here is the news:

Saying that movie stars Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto are not victims of human rights, a Quezon City judge has junked the petition for Writ of Amparo sought by the spouses against the Tulfo brothers – Raffy, Ben, and Erwin.
Judge Maria Filomena D. Singh of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 219 issued the resolution last Friday after sustaining the arguments raised by defense lawyer Nelson Borja who sought the dismissal of the petition for having no basis.
Borja claimed that the celebrity couple, who had been involved in a mauling incident with newspaper columnist and broadcast commentator Ramon Tulfo, are not entitled to government protection under the Writ of Amparo because they are far from being victims of human rights.
In her ruling, Singh cited the rules on the said writ that stated “only extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances are proper subjects of a petition.”
She said the writ is issued by the judiciary when it serves both preventive and curative roles to address human rights violations.
The couple claimed they were entitled to the protection offered by a Writ of Amparo because they feared retaliation from the three Tulfo brothers, who host a hard-hitting public service TV program on Channel 5.
In their petition, Santiago and Barretto claimed that the Writ of Amparo is a remedy available to any person whose right to life, liberty and security is violated or threatened with violation by an unlawful act or omission of a public official or employee, or of a private individual or entity.

It never became exclusive

Grace Lee admitted that it never came to a point that her relationship with PNoy  became exclusive. They dated only for a few months. Here is the news:
MANILA, Philippines - Grace Lee admits that she learned a lot during the time she has gone out with President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
“He was a very interesting part of [my] life… ang dami kong natutunan,” recalled Lee in a recent interview with PEP.
Lee went on to deny that she and the president became "exclusive" as many assumed.
“We dated for a couple of months and, you know, sometimes you date and it works out, and you go to the next level, you become a couple, and you are in an exclusive relationship. We never got there," she said.
The 29-year-old radio broadcaster and TV host was mum as to the real reason why the relationship didn't work out but she was quick to shoot down allegations that it was supposedly because she was already insisting on marriage.

Zsa Zsa Padilla has kidney cancer

The doctor's findings about the growth that was in the kidney is cancer in stage 1  for Zsa Zsa Padilla. Here's the news:

LOS ANGELES -- Still grieving over the death of her long-time partner Dolphy, singer and actress Zsa Zsa Padilla has more bad news.
As if things couldn't get worse, the 48-year-old Padilla told ABS-CBN News that she has been diagnosed with stage one cancer.
She has a malignant growth the size of a golf ball inside her kidney, her doctor at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California have told her.
“The first time I saw Dr. Folkes, he immediately told me it was malignant. So when I heard that word 'malignant,' I said, 'Oh man, I have cancer.’ I went back the next day for blood work and a scan and it showed the same thing -- almost a 3 centimeters growth -- and he advised for it to be taken out," Padilla said.
Last Saturday marked 40 days since Dolpy's death.
Friends and family gathered to pray for the well-loved Filipino King of Comedy at St. Patrick's Church in North Hollywood.
Unknown to the many guests, the grieving widow, who arrived in Los Angeles last week, remains devastated.
She hasn't spoken much since the death of Dolphy.
“Talaga I'm still in denial. Part of me is still in the stage of denial. Then I try to recall everything that has happened – [him] getting sick, being in the hospital, staying in the ICU - everything up to his death. But part of me still feels I'll see him again,” she said.
With Dolphy's death and this recent news of her illness, Padilla said she remains steadfast in prayer.
She said it has put a lot of things in perspective and she's already made a bucket list.
Despite the circumstances surrounding her, Padilla said she wants people around her to stay positive.
“This is the first stage. Once it's removed, I'll be cancer-free. I'm going to take care of myself and eat well," she said.
Padilla will have a surgery on August 27 at Cedars Sinai. If it goes well, she will be out of the hospital in two days and will be back to work in a month.
Padilla added that once she becomes a cancer survivor, she hopes to raise awareness.
For most people, having their husband pass away and immediately being diagnosed with cancer would be too overwhelming.
Padilla, though, is committed to staying strong. She said she is looking for the challenge and ready to live life day by day.

International singing sensation Charice is creating online buzz anew, not for her singing but for her hairstyle.

This is not the first time that Charice surprised Filipinos with her hairstyle and fashion statement.

Tito Sotto blamed contraceptives for the death of his son

Tito Sotto is against the RH Bill. This is what caused him to oppose it.

source: abs-cbn,

Sen. Tito Sotto on Monday said it is his personal mission to block the passage of the Reproductive Health (RH) bill because his son died due to the side effects of contraceptives.
During his "turno on en contra" speech against the bill before the Senate, Sotto shed tears as he blamed contraceptives for the medical condition of his son, Vincent Paul, who died 5 months after he was born in 1975.
He said his wife, actress Helen Gamboa, first gave birth to a girl in January 1973. Since Gamboa was working in TV and movies, she took the advice of a doctor-friend and started taking contraceptives.
After a year, she again conceived and gave birth to Vincent Paul on March 13, 1975. Doctors at the Makati Medical Center said the boy had a weak heart and needed blood transfusions almost daily.
"The Makati Medical Center can prove to the fact na wala silang makita na dahilan kung bakit nagkaganun yung bata kundi dahil nagko-contraceptives yung asawa ko. Nabuntis pa rin kahit na gumagamit ng contraceptives," he said.
He added: "He was born but he never left the hospital. The Makati Medical Center said he died because my wife used contraceptives. Even her doctor admits to the fact, Dra. Enderga Santos."
The senator said his son died on August 13, 1975, exactly 37 years ago today.
Sotto admitted that he felt sorry but also jealous of other senators who admitted losing children.
"Parang naiinggit pa nga ako, Mr. President. Mabuti pa nga sila nahawakan nila. Yung anak ko 5 months ni hindi ko nahipo. Nahawakan ko patay na," he said.
The senator said he prayed daily to God to spare his son. He said he did not receive an answer from God until today, 37 years later.
"Kasi pala, magiging misyon ko ito pala para ipaglaban ko ang karapatan na mabuhay ang maraming inosenteng bata na kikitilin ang buhay ng bill na ito," he said.

Mo Twister Binastos si Charice sa Twitter

Papansin lang ba ito, paintriga because I do not buy the reason of Mo Twister that it is just for fun.

Here is the news:

MANILA, Philippines – Disc jockey Mo Twister and two others were suspended for two weeks from their radio program for alleged sex tape tweets against international singer Charice.
In a statement Wednesday, Magic 89.9 said they did not condone the actions of Mo, Mohan Gumatay in real life, and his fellow DJs Tin Gamboa and Mia Bayuga in their program “Good Times”.

Tulfo Brothers Suspended

Anger would not bring anyone something good. Look at the Tulfo Brothers who threatened the couple, Raymart and Claudine in their program with man viewers as witnesses.

Here is the news:

MANILA, Philippines The three hosts of T3: Kapatid, Sagot Kita have been suspended, the corporate public relations officer of TV5 said on Wednesday.
"The Tulfo brothers, Erwin, Raffy, and Ben have been suspended as of 5 p.m. today," a text message sent to InterAksyon said on Wednesday, quoting TV5's corporate public relations officer Peachy Vibal-Guioguio.
"Mon Tulfo, Martin Andanar, and Atty. Mel Sta. Maria will serve as hosts of T3," the same text message said.
No additional details were provided, but the younger Tulfos had drawn flak for their on-air remarks against actor Raymart Santiago, who had figured in an airport brawl with their brother Ramon.
In lieu of the Tulfo siblings, eldest brother Mon - who was not involved in the controversy over the on-air remarks widely seen as bordering on “threats” - was made host of the T3 show, along with two other network hosts, Martin Andanar and resident legal commentator Atty. Mel Sta. Maria.
The three younger Tulfos face an investigation announced earlier by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), which set a hearing Thursday.
Earlier the Kapatid network said in a statement on Tuesday that the remarks of the younger Tulfos, made just before Atty. Mel Sta. Maria interviewed their brother Mon on Monday, were spontaneous, unscripted, and "uncalled for," and that the management was taking action on the matter.

Celebrities' Scandals, Then and Now Part 2

Here is part 2 of the Celebrities' Scandals, Then and Now that were published in inquirer.

Eddie Garcia

It’s hard to give advice because I never quarrelled with a reporter in my entire career. In my opinion, any misunderstanding can be resolved in a peaceful manner. During our time, the Big Four studios (LVN, Sampaguita, Premiere, Lebran) disciplined their actors. We were told to abide by a strict morality code. Mrs. Azucena Vera-Perez (Sampaguita) would call our attention if we misbehaved. Mrs. Vera-Perez always checked the girls’ outfits before they left for a party.
Perla Bautista

.A young star once asked for advice. I told her: “If you want to last long in show business, you’d better know how to keep secrets.” I also believe that how you treat underlings reflects your true personality. When I am in a mall and a sales lady is cranky, I put myself in their shoes. They’ve been on their feet the whole day and they must be tired. Don’t expect special treatment just because you are a movie star.

Delia Razon

Times were different when we were young. In LVN, Doña Sisang (de Leon) took care of us like we were her own children. She taught us to always be friendly and respectful of other people. She would tell us: “Always smile at the fans. If they say something nasty, just turn your back and walk away. Evitar desgusto [Avoid trouble].” I follow her advice until now. If I smile at someone and I get snubbed, okay lang. I shared that tip with my granddaughter Carla Abellana. I told her: “If someone greets you, just wave even if you don’t see the person. Acknowledge the greeting.”
Amalia Fuentes

During our time, there were also shocking scandals, like the murder of Lilian Velez in the hands of Narding Anzures. Every generation has its share of violent incidents. It’s human nature. It just depends on how you handle the situation. Every time actors leave their homes, they will be under scrutiny. That’s why today’s kids should think twice. Count to 10 before you do anything. For parents, make sure to know your children’s friends. Spend time with your kids, get to know them. The family support system is very important. When we were young actors, we were sheltered by Sampaguita. Plus, I credit my mother. I wasn’t allowed to go out at night without one of my brothers as chaperon. I was a virgin until I was 26 years old! Now, when I say that, people ask, “Amalia, are you bragging or complaining?
Caridad Sanchez

Normal people have the same troubles. If the scandals involve actors, they are magnified. I don’t think that these actors’ private problems would adversely affect the entire industry. I think the public is smarter now. They might generalize that all actors are troublemakers; that would be unfair. Well, times have changed. I am not surprised that such scandals have become commonplace. In our time, life was simpler.

Celebrities' Scandals, Then and Now.

Celebrities' Scandals, Then and Now.
How did the old stars behave in public to avoid scandals at the height of their popularity?
Here are some of them. From inquirer. Some photos are also from inquirer.

What was supposed to be a lazy summer weekend has become a time of collective exasperation.
Local Show Town was rocked with a double whammy of very public squabbles involving celebrities—specifically, the bar brawl with former sweethearts Andi Eigenmann and Albie Casiño as protagonists, and the airport altercation between Inquirer columnist Ramon Tulfo and married couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto.
Inquirer Entertainment turned to the country’s veteran actors for a little sobriety amid the hysterics. The senior stars graciously favored us with their voice of wisdom.
Gloria Sevilla

We can’t solve a problem by creating another problem. I’ve experienced being left behind by a plane many times in the past, but when I talked to the airline staff, I was always calm and civil. Even if I felt wronged, I tried to be humble and cool-headed. I guess, everyone is getting hot-tempered these days because of the weather!
Anita Linda

We also had our share of showbiz scandals in the past, but we handled things discreetly. Also, we were protected and disciplined by the studio bosses. Mrs. Adela Santiago of Premiere Productions would scold me: “I heard you were in the nightclub until morning.” They never get tired of reminding us that we should conduct ourselves properly in public. It’s not that we didn’t make mistakes; we just didn’t wash our dirty linen in public. I have a simple advice to young stars: Love your work. Respect your profession. Never forget that you owe your fame to the public.
Marita Zobel

Actually, there isn’t much difference then and now. Scandals also broke out during our time. It’s just that we didn’t flaunt our troubles. We kept things private. It was because we felt that we had a certain responsibility as actors. We were aware that young people looked up to us and we always had to set a good example.
