This is the news:
Like Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos, Lucy Torres, who has just been proclaimed as congresswoman of the fourth district of Leyte, fought a hard fight, with her husband Richard Gomez beside her. Barely a week before the May 10 elections, Lucy replaced Richard who was disqualified by COMELEC due to lack of residency.
“I was ready to be a congressman’s wife,” Lucy told Funfare in an exclusive interview, “and I ended up the congresswoman.”
It was destiny. The only member of the Torres clan who ever ventured into politics was Lucy’s grandfather who served as mayor of Ormoc City.
“It wasn’t hard for me to convince Lucy to run,” recalled Richard.
