Two cops—one idealistic (Contis), the other corrupt (Vargas)—undergo SWAT training with a topnotch but sadistic mentor (De Leon). The rookies’ mettle and values are later tested when they uncover an assassination plot against the visiting Pope. Graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board, the suspense-drama “sets a new tempo for Pinoy action films,” according to a CEB reviewer (see related story below). The board also commends debuting director Apolinario, a GMA 7 news reporter, for his “firm grasp of the material. It’s well-researched and correctly portrays local media.” The board similarly praises the performances of Vargas, Contis, and De Leon.
