Ricky Pempengco, estranged father of international singing sensation Charice, died of multiple stab wounds close to midnight Monday at San Pedro, Laguna, in what appeared to be a drunken skirmish with still an unidentified killer.
Initial police investigation by San Pedro’s SOCO team revealed Ricky died on the spot. The motive is yet to be determined.
Eyewitnesses said coming from a drinking spree, Ricky was buying cigarettes from a street vendor when the suspect approached and stabbed him. Ricky was able to run but he collapsed on the sidewalk due to multiple stab wounds
