Lloyd Samartino is the son of the popular singer Carmen Soriano. He married Josephine (Jo) Ramos, the daughter of ex-President Fidel and Ming Ramos in the 90's.They separated in 2004.
MANILA, Philippines - The death of singer Josephine "Jo" Ramos, daughter of former President Fidel V. Ramos, caught actor Lloyd Samartino, her estranged husband, by surprise.
Jo passed away at The Medical City in Pasig City on Monday due to lung cancer.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Samartino said he knew about Jo's condition but believed that she was getting better.
"I know she fought it really hard kasi siya din, na-underestimate niya din ang bilis. By the time na nalaman namin, kalat na kalat na," Samartino said.
The actor, who last saw Jo 2 months ago, has only good words for her, especially for being a mother to their 17-year-old son Sergio.
"Jo is a wonderful mom. She's really a hands-on mom sa anak namin. It's a testimony sa kanya na lumaki ang anak ko na level-headed, very grounded considering kung sino sila," Samartino said.
Samartino married Jo in the '90s, but they separated in 2004.
Samartino is now involved in construction and real estate.
